Great tips Mike! I had to do one of these and you make this very very easy.
Well done. Appreciate a lot.
this video was a huge help in opening up
my washing machine… and identifying the parts.
It was agitating but NOT draining or spinning.
It was NOT the lid switch. I removed the pump-
but it back on and it worked?!? Weird.
Either way, thank you for posting this video!
thanx appliancemike for your insightful video, i saved alot of money by watching your video and repairing it myself.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. You saved me time and money with this tutorial.
Excellent video. Prepared me for the repair so well, I didn’t swear once. Make sure you get the newer style of coupler with the metal inserts since they should hold up better.
THANK YOU!!!
Perfect instructions – was fully apart in minutes & coupler clearly broken!
@appliancemike
We do have a new and improved video, with music, that explains about the water issue.
@Stimpy2301 …. I did get a lot of water out of the pump and hose… i don’t think i needed to remove the hoses from the pump.
Fantastic instructions….It took me longer to pull the machine out of the laundry area to a clear area than the repair itself. Took the opportunity to clean and replace other worn parts. Coupler was $16. Total bill less than $30. New coupler has a metal insert that mates with the shaft. Old part was all plastic. If you are working on a Kenmore 80 series, the only difference from this video is that the control panel screws are in the front and not on the sides as shown.
This video saved me from a minimum $120 Sears service call. Turns out my problem was just one of my daughter’s socks stuck in the pump. My machine was only a little different (clips instead of screws holding the console, but I eventually figured it out). Thanks so much for the excellent guidance.
Awesome! It cost me $5.95 to fix a dead washing machine. You are the MAN!. You’re the bomb. I could not have even put the body back without you! Excellent tutorial. I saw a few and this is the best hands down. I live in NYC area and guys won’t come into the house for less than $150. God knows what I saved! What can I say? You can have my old lady tonight for a while! This was great. The second time I fixed my machine from YouTube. 1st time was the agitator dogs. Cute smile too. Thank YOU!
Hey Mike – one more think I ran into was a couple of additional wires I had to unplug for the motor. I had two red ones so I marked one w/ a sharpie to know where to connect it back when re-assembling. You are the man!
Great!, THANK YOU!. You have saved a service call. instead allowed us to fix our washer. a few things were a lil different, our washer had a cap on the side of the motor and a plate over the back area, easily figured out and done. without your video would have been more of a challenge! $24.47 later washer from dead to live and strong as new. Thank you for taking your time and making this and saving us all money! AAA++++ Great quality no fluff straight to the point! love it!
Thanks so much!!! I followed your video and was able to successfully change out the coupler on our washign machine and now it runs great. Thanks for this video!!!!
Awesome, THANK YOU! I had to work in a really tight spot, so despite a few cuss words and a smidgen of blood, it was pretty simple. Couldn’t afford a repair man, so I’m so grateful for the fantastic instructions!
I’m spreading the word….!
Yay!! I just fixed my washer!!! cost me $4.88. I am woman, hear me roar! lol thanx so much for the awesome vid, you just saved a single mom a ton a money!
gonna give this a try…. hope i can do it!
good vid!
thanks mike the vidio had great instructions on how to chang it easily. john
@appliancemike i shoulda read this comment. i had to replace my coupler and laughed as it soaked me removing the pump. otherwise, this was easy to do and the video was excellent. FYI they discontinued the coupler and replaced it (as per whirlpool’s site) with a stronger metal core coupler.
Great video! Perfect instructions! Saved us a lot of money and gave us a great sense of accomplishment!
you just saved me a wad of cash Mike. Thanks for the awesome instructions!
You are a life saver. This was exactly the video I needed. My problem ended up being a footie (thin sock) lodged in the pump. It bound the motor causing it to stop spinning. With some needle nose pliers and some elbow grease I was able to yank out the footie, reassemble, and the washing machine works fine now.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
You saved me $200 and it was so easy.
THANK YOU!
this video was awesome.. saved me money and the headache of finding a repair man. Watched several times and then played it as I put all back together to make sure I did it right. Thanks Mike.. like to try to fix things myself and these made it possible, my family thought I was nuts… not now
